Julian N. Schwartz
The primary focus of my practice is representing clients in collaborative family law matters, divorce situations, modifications of prior court orders affecting children, and premarital and post-marital agreements. I also represent gestational carriers entering into gestational surrogacy agreements.
I am a Credentialed Collaborative Professional with Collaborative Divorce Texas, A Fellow with the Texas Bar Foundation, a Fellow of the College of the State Bar of Texas, and a member of Collaborative Divorce Texas where I served on the Board of Trustees from 2007 to 2015 and as the President for 2012. In 2006 I helped found and was the first President of Collaborative Divorce San Antonio. I have been recognized in San Antonio Scene magazine’s “S.A. Best Lawyers” in both family law and collaborative law since 2012. I am a former Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy.
I assist families with children by working to protect the children’s best interests and helping preserve long-term co-parenting relationship. I help people with complex property and business interests find amicable resolutions.

I graduated from Middlebury College in Vermont and hold master’s degrees from the University of Southern California and New York University. I went to law school at St. Mary’s University.

Valerie G. Zarate
My practice is focused primarily on divorce and child custody. Prior to attending law school, I attended the University of Texas at Austin where I earned a B.A. in Sociology and minored in Psychology. Upon graduation I served as a paralegal at a family and immigration law firm in Austin for two years. After I gained experienced in the family law area, I knew I wanted to pursue a career as a family law attorney focusing on helping families going through one of the worst times in their lives.
I earned my J.D., in 2022 from St. Mary’s University School of Law. During law school I served as a student attorney in the Family Law Clinic for one semester, and as a law clerk for a family law firm in my last two years. I also had the privilege of being a Staff Writer on the St. Mary’s Law Journal, where my Comment was selected for publication and is currently published in Volume 53 of the St. Mary’s Law Journal.
My goal is to continue expanding my knowledge to better assist our clients in obtaining a favorable outcome.
I am the firm’s senior paralegal entering my 36th year in the legal field.
I graduated from Edinburg High School – Go Bobcats! – and received my paralegal certificate from Pan American University, which is now known as UT-RGV, in Edinburg, Texas.
I formerly taught paralegal programs at South Texas College, formerly known as Texas State Technical Institute, and received a commendation from Senator Eddie Lucio for my instruction.
I have served as a speaker on numerous occasions for the paralegal program at San Antonio College. I have worked specifically on complex divorce cases for the past 20 years. I strive to provide the best legal support for our attorneys, as well as customer service to our clients.

I am Mr. Schwartz’ legal secretary. I graduated from Laredo Community College and have worked as a legal assistant since 1990. My goal is to provide our clients with the care and respect they each deserve.
I try my best to keep in contact with our clients throughout their proceedings to keep them informed of any developments in their case. I understand a legal proceeding is never easy, but I try to do whatever is necessary to assist our clients and to make their process as smooth as possible.
After working in the financial services industry for 20 years, serving as a manager in commercial and retail banking, I earned my paralegal certification from the University of Incarnate Word. I have worked in all levels of the banking industry and my perspective on finance and client service allows me to assist our clients in a unique and tailored way.
I am dedicated to providing a high level of service to each of our clients while developing solutions and working with them and our legal team to secure a workable and advantageous resolution to meet their needs.
I am “Human Resources” for Our Team. I maintain our website, work on our Public Relations and oversee our daily operations.
