I am a Credentialed Collaborative Professional with Collaborative Divorce Texas,A Fellow with the Texas Bar Foundation,a Fellow of the College of the State Bar of Texas,and a member of Collaborative Divorce Texas where I served on the Board of Trustees from 2007 to 2015 and as the President for 2012.In 2006 I helped found and was the first President of Collaborative Divorce San Antonio.I have been recognized in San Antonio Scene magazine’s ‘S.A.Best Lawyers’ in both family law and collaborative law since 2012.I am a former Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy.

I assist families with children by working to protect the children’s best interests and helping preserve long-term co-parenting relationship.I help people with complex property and business interests find amicable resolutions.

I am a member of the Texas Bar College, the United States Court, Western District, and the San Antonio Bar Association. I was named to the Texas Association of Mediators research committee on millennial mediators. I’ve also been selected to the Super Lawyers Texas Rising Stars list for the years 2020 through 2025 and was named to the S.A. Best Lawyers’ San Antonio Scene Magazine. I hold certifications in advanced family law and child protective services mediations as well as collaborative law.

I graduated from Middlebury College in Vermont and have master’s degrees from the University of Southern California and New York University. I received my JD at St. Mary’s University.

I represent clients in a variety of family law matters, including divorce, custody, child support, and enforcement cases. My practice is rooted in providing compassionate, thorough, and effective advocacy to help clients navigate some of life’s most challenging situations. I focus on clear communication, careful preparation, and strategic representation, whether I am drafting pleadings, conducting legal research, preparing trial materials, or representing clients in hearings or mediation.

I earned my Doctor of Jurisprudence from St. Mary’s University School of Law in 2022. During law school I served as student attorney in the Family Law Clinic for one semester and as a Staff Writer for the St. Mary’s Law Journal. As a Staff Writer, my comment, “Disposable Immigrants: The Reality of Sexual Assault in Immigration Detention Centers,” was published in Volume 53 of the St. Mary’s Law Journal. Prior to law school, I received my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a Minor in Psychology from The University of Texas at Austin in 2017.

I am honored to have been recognized by San Antonio Scene Magazine as a Rising Star in 2023 and one of the Top S.A. Family Lawyers in 2024. I am committed to serving my clients with diligence, professionalism, and integrity.

I am a dedicated paralegal specializing in family law, with experience in the legal field since 2005. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW). Over the course of my career, I’ve gained valuable experience in family law, personal injury, and insurance defense, allowing me to bring a well-rounded perspective and strong organizational skills to every case I assist with.

Melissa enjoys spending time with her husband, 5 adult children, 3 grandchildren and 5 dogs. She enjoys crafting and spending time outdoors.
